Wendtwoods Park
Designing the final Village-scale park for The Woodlands, Wendtwoods Park (13 acres, $3 million), was not only an honor, but also greatly enjoyable for LANDology. The aquatics facility and custom pavilion were placed on either side of a central 2-acre lake created by damming a natural drainage way that crossed our site. This provided pool visitors a promontory from which to connect with the portions of the park beyond the pool yard. Additional park elements include lit soccer fields, tennis & basketball courts, and picnic areas. The project stayed on schedule and within budget. We had the pleasure of not only siting, but actually designing a whimsical public art piece integrated into the playground area by alluding to one of the three nature themes playfully incorporated throughout the park: irises, frogs and waves.
