Westheimer Office

As part of an overall property renovation of an office tower on Westheimer Rd in Houston, LANDology generated two distinct alternatives for treatment of the pedestrian approach to the tower from the adjacent parking garage. An existing covered walkway with glass wall panels had been added at some point and contributed to the failure of the existing space. It confined pedestrians and discouraged them from venturing into the surrounding space. Our concepts intentionally blurred the distinction between the segregated walkway and the adjacent landscape/ plaza. We wanted to change the visitor’s experience from that of walking beside a space to participating in and moving through a beautiful amenity space. Building ownership specifically requested we continue their corporate tradition of incorporating a putting green into this office environment. Although our role during construction was limited and the contractor was allowed to take many liberties, we’re proud of how we were able to quickly identify the root of the spatial challenge and offer multiple solutions to overcome it, making lemonade out of lemons!
