Woodlands Parkway and Grogan’s Mill Rd. Intersection Landscape Improvements
LANDology was honored to design the 8-acre landscape renovation of the most prominent vehicular intersection in The Woodlands, Woodlands Parkway and Grogan’s Mill Rd. The busy intersection serves as a significant gateway into The Woodlands Town Center from the residential villages.
The project incorporates meandering stone planter walls in addition to various slope stabilization technologies to minimize unsightly sloped paving and remediate accumulated damage to the landscape caused by years of excess erosion. Among a varied but native and naturalized ornamental plant palette suitable for The Woodlands, the project boasts an expanded forest comprised of 423 new trees.
The project design process required great coordination with multiple utility companies and sensitive discovery to avoid relocation of existing underground utilities that have been added and crisscross this location over the last fifty years.
Coincidentally, the first-ever concrete pour in The Woodlands occurred at this location, making it a historically appropriate locale for a large new privately funded sculpture commemorating The Woodlands’ Fiftieth anniversary, called “First Fifty”.
